Anxiety Therapy
in St. Albert & Edmonton

When worry starts taking up too much space in your life, you don't have to manage it alone.

Anxiety is a normal human response to stress, uncertainty, and situations that feel threatening. But when worry becomes constant, overwhelming, or difficult to control, it can begin to affect your relationships, work, sleep, confidence, and ability to enjoy life.

At Guided Path Counselling, we help adults understand their anxiety, develop practical coping strategies, and build a greater sense of calm and control.

What Can Anxiety Feel Like?

Anxiety can look different for everyone. You may experience:

  • Constant worry or overthinking

  • Racing thoughts

  • Feeling restless, tense, or on edge

  • Difficulty relaxing

  • Irritability or feeling easily overwhelmed

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Sleep problems

  • Panic or a sense of impending danger

  • Avoiding situations because they feel uncomfortable or frightening

  • Physical symptoms such as a racing heart, tightness in your chest, stomach discomfort, or muscle tension

Sometimes anxiety can feel like your mind is always preparing for something to go wrong.

Why Am I Feeling This Way?

Anxiety can develop for many reasons. Stress, trauma, difficult life experiences, relationships, work pressures, major transitions, and patterns learned earlier in life can all influence how we respond to uncertainty and perceived threats.

Sometimes you may not even know why you feel anxious.

Understanding what is happening beneath the anxiety can be an important first step toward change.

How Anxiety Counselling Can Help

Counselling can help you understand your anxiety rather than feeling controlled by it.

Together, we may work on:

  • Understanding your anxiety and triggers

  • Recognizing patterns of worry and overthinking

  • Learning strategies to calm and regulate your nervous system

  • Developing healthier ways of responding to difficult thoughts and emotions

  • Building confidence and self-trust

  • Reducing avoidance

  • Improving boundaries and relationships

  • Reconnecting with the things that matter most to you

Tammy uses an individualized approach that may incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, attachment-based approaches, and nervous-system regulation.

The goal isn't to eliminate every uncomfortable feeling. It's to help you feel more capable of responding to anxiety without allowing it to run your life.

You Don't Have to Have It All Figured Out

You may have been telling yourself to "just stop worrying," but anxiety doesn't usually work that way.

You don't have to know exactly why you're anxious before you reach out for help.

We can start with where you are, understand what you're experiencing, and take the next step together.
